We've all been there: staring at the screen as we try to decide among hundreds of movies to watch on Netflix, Prime Video, Paramount Plus, Peacock, Max or any of the other popular streaming services. It can be daunting, which is why it's always nice to have a little help from someone else. So allow me to humbly offer my services in suggesting movies to stream in March.

What else is on streaming

New on Disney Plus
New on Hulu
New on Max
New on Netflix
New on Paramount Plus

While there are plenty of new movies to watch in movie theaters this month, March's slate of streaming offerings includes both new and classic movies for viewers to enjoy.

Here are my personal recommendations for movies launching on streaming services this month that you should watch, in alphabetical order for ease of reference:

1. 9 to 5 (Peacock)

Lily Tomlin, Dolly Parton and Jane Fonda in 9 to 5
Lily Tomlin, Dolly Parton and Jane Fonda in 9 to 5

March is Women's History Month, and while there have been plenty of great recent movies and TV shows telling women's stories and made by women, one classic movie that arrives on streaming this month to celebrate is 9 to 5. Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton lead this fantastic workplace comedy that sees three female workers take some much-deserved revenge against their sexist boss. It has held up great in the more than 40 years since its original release.

2. Anatomy of a Fall (Hulu)

Sandra Hüller in Anatomy of a Fall
Sandra Hüller in Anatomy of a Fall

Anatomy of a Fall is an international movie that has made a big impact in the US. The courtroom drama, directed by Justine Triet and starring Sandra Hüller, Swann Arlaud, Milo Machado-Graner and the dog Messi, has earned five Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Director and Actress, and made What to Watch's list of top 10 movies of 2023. We won't share too much about the movie because honestly, it's a great one to just discover all the twists and turns on your own, but if you are skeptical at all about having to read subtitles, we've got great news — while there are subtitles throughout, a majority of the movie is spoken in English.

3. Bonnie and Clyde (Netflix)

Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty in Bonnie and Clyde
Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty in Bonnie and Clyde

Not only is Bonnie and Clyde, the crime drama starring Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway about the real-life bank robbers Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, a great movie, but it may also be one of the most important movies ever made. Released in 1967, its style and use of violence was one of many films that year that helped cause a shift from the old studio system to the auteur-driven period in Hollywood that lasted through most of the 1970s. But first and foremost, Bonnie and Clyde is just a good watch.

4. Bull Durham (Prime Video)

Kevin Costner and Tim Robbins in Bull Durham
Kevin Costner and Tim Robbins in Bull Durham

Spring training is underway and Opening Day for the 2024 MLB season arrives at the end of March, so there's no better time to watch the great baseball movie Bull Durham to get yourself in the mood for baseball. Kevin Costner, Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins star in this story of a minor league team with a hot-headed but super-talented young pitcher, a veteran catcher tasked with making him pro-ready and a baseball-fanatic woman they both go after. If Bull Durham isn't your speed for one reason or another, another Kevin Costner baseball classic, Field of Dreams, is also arriving on Prime Video this month, as does A League of Their Own on Peacock.

5. Dream Scenario (Max)

Nicolas Cage in Dream Scenario

The big new movie to Max this month is probably Timothée Chalamet's Wonka, but we're going with a different 2023 movie for our pick, the incredibly wacky and hilarious Nicolas Cage movie Dream Scenario. Cage plays a simple college professor just going through his normal life when he becomes instantly recognizable for appearing in people's dreams. He quickly learns, however, that his newfound fame is not all its cracked up to be.

6. Dumb and Dumber (Netflix)

Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels in Dumb and Dumber
Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels in Dumb and Dumber

One of the most quotable comedies of all time, Dumb and Dumber belongs in the pantheon of comedy movies. It is one of the movies that made Jim Carrey one of the biggest stars of the 90s, while his partnership with Jeff Daniels made their Harry and Lloyd an instant iconic cinema duo. It's never a bad time to rewatch Dumb and Dumber, and it's as easy as it's been in a while now that it's streaming on Netflix.

7. The Green Knight (Max)

The Green Knight
The Green Knight

Released in 2021 when movie theaters were still recovering from the pandemic, The Green Knight got a little lost in the cinematic forest, but it is truly one of the most unique and captivating movies to come out in some time. Based on the Arthurian legend of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Dev Patel stars as Gawain, who after cutting the head of the mystical green knight in a game must journey to receive the same fate a year later. It is an epic fantasy from director David Lowery, with an ending that is absolutely stunning.

8. Lost in Translation (Peacock)

Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson in Lost in Translation

Bill Murray is returning to one of his iconic characters with Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire opening later this month, but you can also celebrate the actor by streaming one of his most acclaimed performances from Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation. Murray stars as a well-known actor going through a mid-life crisis who travels to Japan to shoot a commercial and bonds with a newly wed (Scarlett Johansson) staying at his hotel while her husband is off working. It's a beautiful movie worth revisiting or discovering for the first time.

9. Poor Things (Hulu)

Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo in Poor Things

Another 2023 movie and Best Picture nominee making its streaming debut this month (and just in time for the Oscars if you want to catch up with it before then) is Poor Things. The latest movie from director Yorgos Lanthimos sees Emma Stone star as Bella Baxter, an experiment of an unconventional scientist (played by Willem Dafoe) eager to discover the world. Stone's Oscar-nominated performance, as well as strong supporting work from Dafoe, Mark Ruffalo (also nominated) and Kathryn Hunter, make Poor Things one of the strangest but most fun watches you'll find on streaming right now.

10. Raising Arizona (Paramount Plus)

Holly Hunter, Nicolas Cage and Trey Wilson in Raising Arizona

Ethan Coen (one half of the Coen Brothers) has a new movie currently playing in theaters, Drive-Away Dolls. If seeing that movie makes you want to go back to a Coen classic, Raising Arizona is now an option on Paramount Plus. Nicolas Cage and Holly Hunter star as a married couple (one an ex-con the other an ex-cop) who desperately want a baby, so they go about stealing one from a family that recently had quintuplets. This odd-ball comedy helped set the Coens on the map and helped define their style.

11. Road House (Prime Video)

Jake Gyllenhaal as Dalton in Road House
Jake Gyllenhaal as Dalton in Road House

A brand new movie making its premiere on streaming this month is Road House starring Jake Gyllenhaal on Prime Video. This is a remake of the Patrick Swayze favorite of the same name from 1989 (which is also streaming on Prime Video in March). In this version, Gyllenhaal is an ex-UFC fighter who takes a job as a bouncer at a road house in the Florida Keys, but when his involvement becomes a problem for a local group of criminals, he has to go toe-to-toe with real-life UFC fighter Connor McGregor, making his acting debut in the movie.

12. Sleeping with Other People (Paramount Plus)

Alison Brie and Jason Sudeikis in Sleeping with Other People
Alison Brie and Jason Sudeikis in Sleeping with Other People

An under-the-radar pick that we're pretty confident will win you over if you give it a chance — Sleeping with Other People. The 2015 romantic comedy stars Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie as two people needing to get their love lives in order who form a platonic friendship. You can see where this is going most likely, but Sudeikis and Brie are fantastic together and the movie is kind of like a modern-day When Harry Met Sally. Definitely worth a watch.

13. Spaceman (Netflix)

Adam Sandler in Spaceman on Netflix

Netflix has a number of big original movies it is premiering March, including the Millie Bobby Brown fantasy epic Damsel, the Regina King-led biopic Shirley about Shirley Chisholm and another true-story adapted into a movie, the sport drama The Beautiful Game with Bill Nighy. But if we're picking just one we're going with Spaceman, a meditative drama starring Adam Sandler and a space spider voiced by Paul Dano. That's simplifying it into the most basic of terms, but Spacemen truly is an intriguing option. Sandler has shown he can be great in dramatic roles and the movie comes from Johan Renck, who created the powerful HBO limited series Chernobyl.

14. Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Taylor's Version (Disney Plus)

While I'm not a Swiftie, it's impossible to deny that Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert movie was one of the biggest movie events of 2023. Now, whether you've seen Swift perform this concert live, took part in one of the concert-like screenings of it in theaters or have not yet experienced it, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is officially available on a streaming service. What's more, the version on Disney Plus features performances from Swift's concert that were not included in the original theatrical release.

15. The Wrestler (Hulu)

Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler
Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler

With all respect to Sean Penn's great work in Milk, Mickey Rourke's loss of Best Actor for his role in The Wrestler remains one of my biggest Oscar disappointments. Rourke is unbelievable as an aging wrestler trying to hold onto the sport he has given his life to, while also trying to make up for the mistakes of his past. It belongs among the best performances of the 21st century and is a must-see if you haven't yet.
