  • Maroon 5 to Perform at Super Bowl Halftime Show With Rappers Travis Scott, Big Boi

Adam Levine and Maroon 5 will be moving like Jagger at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium during next month’s Super Bowl LIII Halftime Show, the NFL announced Sunday. And rappers Travis Scott and Big Boi will be featured guests on stage. This is the first time the three-time Grammy-winning pop band has gotten the plum gig, joining other big time artists including Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, The Who, Katy Perry (who could forget Left Shark?) and Tom Petty. Led by “The Voice” judge Adam Levine, Maroon 5 has sold 53 million albums, 48 million singles worldwide. Scott is a Grammy nominee whose 2018 album “Astroworld” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts; Antwan “Big Boi” Patton is a six-time Grammy winner who first emerged as half of the hip-hop duo OutKast. Timberlake was eventually forgiven — though not Jackson, who reportedly drew the ire of former CBS CEO Leslie Moonves — and was the headliner last year from Minneapolis. However, he again stirred some controversy when he performed Minnesota-native Prince’s “I Would Die 4 U” with a giant projection of the late artist on a large sheet behind the stage. The last time CBS hosted the game — Super Bowl 50 from Santa Clara, California, in February 2016 — the performers were Beyonce, Bruno Mars and Coldplay. The high-profile gig will air on Feb. 3 on CBS. Ricky Kirshner is producing and Hamish Hamilton is directing the halftime show, which Pepsi will sponsor for the seventh straight year.
