If Coachella stages were categorized as internet slang, last week, Heineken House was the IYKYK (If you know, you know) of the nation’s most prominent music festival. Tucked away in the corner of the Empire Polo Club grounds on the festival’s opening weekend, Heineken set up the perfect oasis to bop your head, sip a lager, and take a beat to lounge in the grass while getting away from the crowds — until, of course, the crowds caught word and made their way inside.

As the desert valley days waned on, Heineken House transitioned from a calm backyard-like hangout to massive club with the help of headliners like French DJ Bob Sinclar, legendary hitmaker T-Pain, and mister “Kick Push” himself Lupe Fiasco. If you missed Heineken House for Weekend One, here’s everything that went down.

While the sun beamed over Coachella attendees during the day, DJs kept dance music in the ears of beer drinkers preparing them for their flight overseas captained by Paris’ own Bob Sinclar. As the sun set, Heineken House’s center dance floor flooded with red light as the DJ stood in a pair of Jordans hovering over turntables that could shift the room with the press of the button. His club mixes featured Missy Elliott’s hits and Justice and SIMIAN’s “We Are Your Friends” putting the crowd in a trance. Sinclar’s symphony of horns, drum machines, and samples of massive hits were made for every ear, even if you aren’t an EDM fan.

T-Pain Celebrates His Wife’s Birthday With An Over-Capacity Performance

Hours before T-Pain hit the Heineken House stage, a line of fans hoping to get into the venue snaked long around food and merch vendors. T-Pain’s set marked the first time he’d performed at Coachella — but that wasn’t the only special occasion for the star. “Today is my wife’s birthday,” T-Pain explained to the crowd, adding that she told him they didn’t have to do anything for her special day except get on stage.

Fans were so thirsty to get a glimpse of T-Pain, some tried to sneak through barricades, blend in with important entourages or even breach an emergency exit gate. The star ran through myriad chart-topping hits and features like Plies’ “Shawty” and Kanye West’s “Good Life.” After the first couple of songs, T-Pain stripped himself of his trucker hat and aviator sunglasses and unleashed dance floor moves while simultaneously carrying the crowd with his voice. As his body gyrated one way and his iconic brown locks the other, those lucky enough to make it into the venue looked on in awe.

An audience that knew every lyric without missing a beat. While there were rumors that Tyler, the Creator was part of the crowd, it wasn’t confirmed until the Coachella headliner (who had his own huge set less than 24 hours earlier) joined him on the Heineken House stage. Dressed in his signature baby blues and greens, Tyler, the Creator acted as the ultimate hype man. The two swayed in unison with Tyler holding his Louis Vuitton briefcase as he rapped along with the midwestern MC. Tyler commemorated the moment by sharing a video on his Instagram story writing: “‘Paris, Tokyo’ is in my blood.”

Riding the wave of T-Pain’s electric performance, BIA took the Heineken House stage in an all white, strappy outfit with a fur coat looking like a super fly million-dollar mummy. As she ran through her hits, she brought two fans on stage to act as background dancers. The audience members twerked, took selfies and provided amazing energy as BIA performed her verse on OhGeesy’s “Geekaleek” remix. Bia then gave her collaborator Nicki Minaj a shoutout and performed “Freaky Girl” for an enthusiastic audience of fans of both the female MCs.
