Stephen Colletti likes to plan romantic gestures for his fiancée, Alex Weaver.

The One Tree Hill alum and Weaver started dating in 2021. Two years later, Colletti got down on one knee and proposed.

“We, of course, had discussed future plans many times but Stephen wanting to still keep the element of surprise previously hinted at an engagement more likely in 2024,” Weaver told PEOPLE after getting engaged in Rome, Italy.

Weaver recalled that Colletti began the proposal by reminding her that it was “exactly two years since” their first date, which Colletti said “made it kismet.” She admitted to PEOPLE that they were “excited to be entering” the engagement season of their relationship and were “looking forward to future special memories with family and friends.”

She is from North Carolina

In a Reddit AMA, Weaver shared that she was born and raised in the Charlotte, North Carolina area.

Although she hasn’t opened up much about her childhood, Weaver once revealed on Instagram that as a child, she was called “E.T.” because her “head was so big.”

Weaver graduated from Clemson University in 2016 with her bachelor’s degree in communication and media studies, per her LinkedIn.

In 2013, she posted on X (formerly Twitter), “Clemson is definitely my happy place.”

She is a Capricorn

Weaver was born in December 1993.

More than a month after their engagement, Colletti sweetly celebrated his future wife’s birthday with a tribute on Instagram. “It’s New Year’s Weave. Don’t get it twisted. Happy Birthday @al_weave 🎈 What a year — the best yet,” he captioned the carousel of photos.

She works for NASCAR

Weaver is a host and reporter for NASCAR. She announced in 2017 that she had accepted a position with the racing brand in Charlotte. When asked how she got into motorsports during a Reddit AMA, Weaver explained that she grew up around NASCAR.

“My grandfather was a HUGE fan and never missed a race on Sundays,” she wrote. “That's the background I had growing up, didn't know a whole lot about the sport other than who I was supposed to cheer for to make my grandfather happy on Sunday afternoon.”

When NASCAR reached out with the job after college, Weaver took the opportunity “as a sign from” her grandfather who had died years prior. She wrote, “I hope he's proud and enjoying the races from up there!”

She and Colletti started dating in 2021

Colletti and Weaver went on their first date on Nov. 15, 2021. The Laguna Beach star ended up proposing on the two-year anniversary of their initial date.

The actor made his relationship with Weaver Instagram official on Aug. 17, 2022. Alongside a picture of the two of them on a boat, he penned, “Magic hours are a bit more magical this year. 😎 @al_weave.” Weaver dubbed herself the “luckiest girl” in the comments section.

She and Colletti got engaged in Italy

Colletti proposed to his girlfriend during an Italian getaway in 2023. The TV star popped the question at Rome’s Giardino degli Aranci park with a ring that he helped design with Ring Concierge.

Following their engagement, Weaver told PEOPLE that Colletti “gave no tells that that day was the big day.” She said, “In secret conversations with my mom, he was told to make sure I was dressed appropriately with my hair done and makeup on so Stephen suggested we take our ‘Christmas card photo’ as his sneaky way of getting me to dress nice.”

The engaged duo capped off their special day with a romantic dinner at an Italian restaurant called Da Enzo. “As if it couldn't get more perfect, we walked out of our restaurant through the streets of the Trastevere neighborhood to an Italian musician singing ‘Stand By Me’ in a plaza with people dancing, naturally we joined them,” Weaver recalled.

The Clemson alum announced her engagement to Colletti on Instagram with a photo of them sharing a kiss, along with a snapshot of her dazzling ring. “Yes! Forever,” she captioned the post.

She’s interviewed one of Colletti’s famous exes

Weaver spent time with Colletti’s high school sweetheart Kristin Cavallari for a 2019 episode of The InField. Cavallari gave the NASCAR host a tour of her Uncommon James store in Nashville for the show.

Before introducing the segment, Weaver’s co-host Samantha Busch said that Cavallari was “my girl boss idol,” to which Weaver replied, “Mine, too.”

The journalist posted a picture of herself and Cavallari together on her Instagram to promote the interview. In replies to comments on the post, she shared that it was “such a fun shoot” and that Cavallari was “so so great!”

Colletti is her “adventure partner”

Weaver celebrated the actor’s birthday in 2023, writing, “Happy Birthday, adventure partner. 🫶.”

In the post, she included a video of Colletti eating funnel cake as well as a photo of the pair in Paris. Colletti reacted to the birthday tribute, commenting, “That funnel cake while concussed from the swings. 👌🏼.” He also added, “You are a 💎.”
