Staunch breastfeeding advocate Jenna Jameson urges moms to #DropTheCover

Former adult film star Jenna Jameson is on a mothering mission: to help spread awareness about and help normalize breastfeeding. On March 15, the mother of three took to Instagram to share a photo of herself nursing her 11-month-old daughter, Batelli, nicknamed Batel, adding the hashtags #dropthecover and #normalizebreastfeeding.

This is my calling… motherhood. My children have my heart and soul. Coming from my childhood without a mother and an absentee father has made me dig deep and define what it is to me to be a mommy… I pray I am the mother to sweet Batelli that I dream my mother would have been to me. #dropthecover #normalizebreastfeeding

This isn’t the first such picture Jameson has posted — by far. She’s been keeping fans abreast (if you will) of her breastfeeding journey pretty much since her daughter was born last spring, all with a positive attitude directed toward other mothers who might need a little encouragement.

On March 6, she showed off some mama multitasking as she breastfed Batel while in the shower, offering words of solidarity to other tired, overworked moms and again using the #normalizebreastfeeding tag.

This is motherhood. It’s not always shiny and perfect like so many instagrammers make us believe. There are days you question your strength and abilities. But then there are HARD days like today that prove your uncompromising power. I haven’t slept for two days and poor Batelli has been vomiting every 40 min like clockwork. We are in this together. On Feb. 5, she posted a photo celebrating her reaching a 10-month breastfeeding goal.

On Jan. 23, she showed off yet another shot feeding Batel, this time in tough-looking dark sunglasses, dubbing herself a “badass breastfeeder.”

On Dec. 30, she praised the beauty of these special, close moments with her baby.

And, needless to say, the list of pictures goes on and on and on.

Her fans’ reactions to the Instagram shots prove to be — as might be expected — mixed, but many women are responding with gratitude for Jameson’s honest, unvarnished advocacy.

When one commenter suggested Jameson was merely seeking attention with the revealing pictures, the actress replied, “I obviously already get a lot of attention so this obviously isn’t about that. Maybe read the caption, maybe look at my other posts about how it’s important to lift mothers up instead of shaming them.”

Batal is Jameson’s daughter with fiancé Lior Bitton. She has twin 9-year-old sons from her previous relationship with mixed martial artist Tito Ortiz.
