NBC will mark SNL‘s milestone with a three-hour special airing on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2025, at 8/7c. The event will be broadcast as the culmination of a celebratory weekend centered on the sketch-comedy show.

The network has staged similar events for SNL in the past. If the 50th celebration is anything like the 40th, which aired in 2015 (see highlights here), the upcoming telecast will feature current and past cast members, as well as special guests and musical performers from the show’s run.

In other Not Ready for Primetime Players news: Jason Reitman is making SNL 1975, a movie based on first-hand accounts of the first-ever SNL taping. Reitman and Gil Kenan will write the script; Reitman will direct. The cast includes Gabriel LaBelle (The Fabelmans) as SNL creator Lorne Michaels, Cory Michael Smith (Gotham) as Chevy Chase, Ella Hunt (Dickinson) as Gilda Radner and Dylan O’Brien (Teen Wolf) as Dan Aykroyd.
