‘Silver Goddesses’ Paulina Porizkova and Ricki Lake Celebrate 36-Year Friendship: Photos

Paulina Porizkova celebrated her decades-long friendship with Ricki Lake by sharing a couple of sweet photos of the two spending time together at a recent concert.
As the former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover model recalled in a Monday, April 22 Instagram post, she and Lake first met 36 years ago. At the time, Porizkova’s then-husband, the late Ric Ocasek of The Cars, “had a little cameo” in Hairspray, the 1988 film where Lake starred as Tracy Turnblad. The movie “made her a star,” Porizkova wrote.
“I was at the top of my career, she was just about to join the Valhalla of celebrities,” Porizkova, 59, wrote while reflecting on the time when she and Lake, 55, met. “In the following 36 years we both went through marriages, children, career successes and failures, romantic involvements, and deaths. And here we are.”
Porizkova’s caption continued by saying it is now their time to "fully step into the power we know we own,” adding that middle age has found them both “feeling the happiest -and best- we’ve ever been.”
“If this is not our prime- then what is?!😁” she wondered.
The former host of The Ricki Lake Show chimed in to say that she is “grateful” to have Porizkova as a friend.
“You are an inspiration to me and my mirror. We have both overcome so much and deserve these oh so sweet days with our giant kings,” Lake wrote, with her “giant kings” mention serving as a reference to their tall partners.
Several fans left their own comments on Porizkova’s post as they cheered for the friendship between the “inspirational” and “beautiful silver haired lovelies.”
“So beautiful and empowering to have a friendship like that,” one fan wrote.
“You're both so beautiful- inside and out,” an Instagram user said as another dubbed Porizkova and Lake “silver goddesses” in recognition of their embrace of the gray hair brought by middle age.
“The pair=drop dead stunners,” another fan declared.
