Savannah Chrisley Teases New True Crime Reality Series Amid Parents’ Prison Sentence

Savannah Chrisley may have another TV project on the way, and this time it's unlike anything she's done in the past.

The reality TV star turned prison reform advocate shared on the Tuesday (April 23) episode of her Unlocked podcast that she's currently in talks to partner with a network on a true crime-focused reality series, which is seemingly inspired by parents Todd and Julie Chrisley's experience behind bars.

After speaking about supporting her parents during their recent appeal, Savannah suggested that once the couple is released, they'll not only be back home but potentially back on TV.

"Other than [a] reality show -- the moment Mom and Dad come home, I guarantee you, we have already been told everyone is going to want that footage," she said. "But right now my heart is telling me to focus on a show that's more true crime and focuses on the case and the ins and outs of it and everything I am doing with prison reform."

The Chrisley Knows Best alum went on to explain that she's working with former attorney Brett Tolman, who launched the Right On Crime national campaign, on the new project.

According to its official website, the Right On Crime campaign "supports conservative solutions for reducing crime, restoring victims, reforming offenders, and lowering taxpayer costs. The movement was born in Texas in 2007 and has led the way in implementing conservative criminal justice reforms across the nation."

"They stand for everything I stand for," Savannah shared. "They stand for everything that I believe in and my goal is hopefully to have Brett and I testifying in front of Congress on the conditions of these prisons, the mistreatment of these men and women, the abuse, the government waste, the theft, just all of it."

The 26-year-old noted that the true crime series is currently "in final negotiations with a network.

"A network wanted to see the true grit behind this whole case," she added, "So we are working on that and I'm really excited for that because that's kind of what God has placed on my heart. God has placed on my heart to work on a project that is going to change the lives of millions of people and I truly do believe that's what this can do."

As Parade previously reported, the real estate tycoon and reality TV stars were convicted of tax fraud and sentenced in November 2022.

Todd was sentenced to 12 years behind bars. He began serving time in January 2023 at a prison in Pensacola, Florida. Julie received a seven-year sentence, which she began serving in January 2023 at a prison in Lexington, Kentucky. They each had two years shaved off their sentences last fall.

In the year since, Savannah has been awarded custody of her younger brother, Grayson, and her niece, Chloe, whom her parents adopted in 2017. She has also worked tirelessly to bring attention to the "inhumane conditions" she alleges her parents have had to put up with due to their "celebrity status" while locked up.
