Robert Irwin’s Sweet Throwback Photo With Niece Grace Has Fans Calling Him the ‘Best Uncle Ever’

Fans of Robert Irwin are calling him the “best uncle ever” after he shared a sweet throwback photo featuring his niece.

The 20-year-old conservationist shared his “special little throwback” on Instagram on Tuesday, April 30. The photo, which Robert said was taken in 2022, showed his now-3-year-old niece, Grace, looking adoringly up at her uncle as he grasped a green ukulele in his hands. The toddler held her hands in front of her as she watched Robert, who smiled as he sat face-to-face with his niece.

When he posted the photo, the son of the late Crocodile Hunter star Steve Irwin explained to his social media followers that he had, at the time, been showing Grace “how to play” the instrument. He did not clarify exactly where the photo was taken or when in 2022 it had been captured.

Fans were quick to praise the sweet and “wholesome” nature of the photo, with many applauding Robert’s embrace of his role as Grace’s uncle.

“Best Uncle ever 😍,” one fan wrote as another echoed the sentiment, telling Robert, “You are the best uncle 😍.”

“Amazing uncle you are,” another fan agreed.

One Instagram user referred to Robert as a “funcle,” a term meaning “fun uncle.”

“Grace loves her ‘Funcle’ Robert to the moon and back,” they wrote.

Others noticed Grace’s “look of complete trust and love” as she stared up at her uncle.

“She looks at you with such love and adoration,” one fan gushed. “How sweet!!”

Robert’s older sister, Bindi Irwin, shares Grace with her husband, Chandler Powell. The couple were married on March 25, 2020, and welcomed Grace into the world exactly one year later as they celebrated their first wedding anniversary.

When Grace turned 3 a few weeks ago, Robert paid special tribute to his niece in another sweet Instagram post.

“Happy birthday, Grace!” he wrote at the time. “I can’t believe you’re 3, so lucky to be your uncle ☺️❤️.”
