Answering all our wishes, The Morning Show star just announced her new pick: The Most Fun We Never Had by Claire Lombardo.

In the video, Witherspoon summarized the 2019 novel in 5(ish) words. “Emotional, Sisters, Messy (in the best way), COMPLICATED relationships, character-driven,” the video outlined.

“Okay, MORE than 5 words! 🤭,” Witherspoon wrote in the caption. “Our April @reesesbookclub pick, #TheMostFunWeEverHad by @claire_lombardo is so engrossing, it was impossible to pick only 5 to sum it up.”

“This book truly feels like you’re a fly on the wall watching a real family interact,” she continued. “SO GOOD! ✨📚”

And while Witherspoon kept her announcement short and sweet this time around, the novel’s official description gives more details to what the book is all about. “Marilyn Connolly and David Sorenson fall in love in the 1970s, blithely ignorant of all that awaits them,” the description reads. “By 2016, they have four radically different daughters, each in a state of unrest.”

The couple’s four daughters are Wendy, a young widow, Violet, a stay-at-home mom, Liza, a newly tenured professor who’s recently pregnant, and Grace, the “dawdling youngest daughter” who “begins living a lie that no one in her family even suspects.”

“With the unexpected arrival of young Jonah Bendt—a child placed for adoption by one of the daughters fifteen years before—the Sorensons will be forced to reckon with the rich and varied tapestry of their past,” the description continues. “As they grapple with years marred by adolescent angst, infidelity, and resentment, they also find the transcendent moments of joy that make everything else worthwhile.”

Overall, this book has everything Witherspoon loves in her picks: female-driven stories with drama and intrigue that will have us guessing all the way through. “Awww, I need to read thiss! ❤️,” wrote one commenter on Instagram. We couldn’t agree more!
