Quarterback J.J. McCarthy’s Fiancée Says Goodbye to College Life Ahead of NFL Draft: ‘Excited for the Next’

Katya Kuropas is ready for her fiancé J.J. McCarthy’s NFL experience!

On Instagram Wednesday, Kuropas looked back on Michigan’s championship season — and shared that she was excited to cheer on her quarterback’s next chapter.

“Extremely delayed but… Reminiscing on how amazing this past season was,” Kuropas wrote, alongside a carousel of photos from the team’s undefeated 15-0 campaign. “An abundance of blessings and the best memories. Feeling so grateful for everything that unfolded & for everyone that was part of it!! Sad to see this chapter go, but excited for the next one🫶🏽”

The couple of five years, who announced their engagement in January, are looking toward new goals on the eve of the 2024 NFL Draft on Thursday, April 25.

While USC quarterback Caleb Williams is expected to be drafted No. 1 by the Chicago Bears, McCarthy could be selected as the next pick, according to numerous mock drafts.

Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels and North Carolina's Drake Maye are also expected to be drafted high in the first round, according to USA Today.

On Wednesday, in a guest spot on the Rich Eisen Show, the 21-year-old revealed that he has an inkling where he might be headed.

"I mean, I have somewhat of an idea," McCarthy said. "New York Giants, I’ve spent the most time with. They’re a phenomenal staff — love Coach [Brian] Daboll, love [GM] Mr. [Joe] Schoen, love [quarterbacks] Coach [Shea] Tierney, [offensive coordinator] Coach Kafka — Chicago guy.”

He continued, “Just being able to go in there, pretty much know all the install because Coach Daboll came from Alabama and Coach [Josh] Gattis came to Michigan from Alabama. So similar formations, motions, plays, all that stuff.”

McCarthy’s jump to the pros comes less than six months after taking home a national championship ring with the Wolverines, and then proposing to Kuropas with a stunning oval-cut sparkler.

In a series of engagement photos, the couple shared the happy moment — along with their adorable pooch.
