Perrie Edwards Launches Solo Career With Bittersweet Anthem ‘Forget About Us’

Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards is the latest member of the UK girl group to launch her solo career. Now going by simply Perrie, she comes out strong with the bittersweet power ballad “Forget About Us.”

Perrie’s debut was co-written by Ed Sheeran, Steve Solomon, and David Hodges (who also co-wrote Kelly Clarkson’s “Because of You” and Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years”). The track is bathed in massive synths as the singer looks back on a past relationship and the happier memories attached to it.

“I look back on past relationships and do think happily about those times,” Perrie says in a statement. “Do I want to be there now? No. It didn’t work out that way and if it was supposed to be it would have happened. Relationships have been a huge part of my life and they’ve made me who I am now. I think it’s a nice sentiment to be honest about and it’s super relatable.”

Perrie came to prominence as part of Little Mix, which was formed on The X-Factor in 2011. The group won their season and would go on to have a decade of global success. The trio, which was formed as a quartet then became a trio in 2020 when Jesy Nelson left, announced their hiatus in December 2021. All the former members have either begun to roll out or have teased their solo projects since.
