John Amos is ready to reveal the truth behind the ongoing accusations of elder abuse and apparent family drama that have made headlines for the last year.

The 84-year-old actor has been at the center of what is now being made out as an ongoing spat between his children, which led to a formal investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department into accusations of elder abuse and neglect when it came to his health and well-being.

When his daughter, Shannon, first made her accusations public, John assured everyone that they were "false and unmerited," asserting that "the real truth will come out soon," directly from him.

Now that police closed their investigation due to a lack of sufficient evidence—with detectives concluding that the accusations stemmed from an ongoing family dispute—he seems intent on getting his message out sooner rather than later, telling People that the situation has made him "determined to complete production on the documentary film" he and his son, K.C., are producing together. "It will shed light on the real truth as to the motives of those who have painted a false narrative about me," he explained. "I learned something very valuable some years ago that I reference in my work and all that I do. Stand on the truth and stay there. it won't let you down. The truth will stand up for you. The LAPD's conclusion of their investigation along with my upcoming documentary each stand on that same truth."

It all began in the summer of 2023, when Shannon launched a GoFundMe that claimed her father, then 83, had been a victim of elder abuse and was taken advantage of by a "trusted caregiver." She later accused her brother of failing to provide him with the necessary care for his undisclosed health conditions and filed new complaints of neglect that led the LAPD to launch their investigation.

While John thanked "the LAPD for their professionalism and thoroughness" in determining that he is "doing well," as he has been "saying all along...to the media," Shannon expressed her disappointment, revealing that "no one from [her] family has seen or spoken to [John] since July 2023."

She hedged that her brother, along with members of her father's team, "removed him from a medical facility against doctors’ orders," and claimed that she has been contacted by healthcare providers with "evidence that raises concerns over his well-being and whether he is receiving the care his health requires."

For now, it appears to be a classic case of he-said-she-said, but perhaps his next project will finally, as he hopes to do, shed some light on the truth.
