After a months-long saga surrounding actor John Amos' health and wellbeing, police are officially closing the case.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that new information had come to light—or, rather, no information had come to light: there was no evidence suggesting any wrongdoing when it comes to Amos' care, which his daughter, Shannon, had accused her brother K.C. of.

According to police, detectives spoke with each involved party and concluded that the accusations stemmed from an ongoing family dispute, which has reportedly finally been resolved.

The ordeal began over the summer of 2023, when Shannon launched a GoFundMe, claiming that her father, then 83, had been a victim of elder abuse. She said a "trusted caregiver" had "violated" her father's home and "stripped [it] of anything valuable" and then alleged that her father had been left to "fight...for his life" in the ICU.

Amos later countered the claim via a statement from his representative, telling Parade, "...this GoFundMe campaign is not one that is accurate or authorized by me." He later accused her of taking "advantage" of him, and his representative described the hospital visit as "a little tune up" rather than a life-threatening emergency.

Shannon refused to provide further comment at the time, assuring Parade that "the family [was] unwavering in their commitment to ensuring John's safety, stability, and healing" but wouldn't speak on the situation as the Colorado Bureau of Investigations (CBI) and Custer County Sheriff’s Department investigated.

She later claimed her father was "safe" and "healing," though she kept most details private. K.C. was removed as the actor's power of attorney around the same time, but month later, in March 2024, Shannon filed new complaints of neglect that led the Los Angeles Police Department to launch an investigation into the actor's wellbeing.

She reportedly called Adult Protective Services and reported that her father was battling unspecified health issues that her brother was failing to get him adequate care for.

Amos, now 84, said at the time, “This story about neglect is false and unmerited. The real truth will come out soon and you will hear it from me. Believe it." So far, he hasn't spoken further.
