Jazz Band Dinner concert returns May 3; tickets on sale until Friday

Apr. 24—Take note: The Somerset Jumper Jazz Band will hold its second annual Jazz Band Dinner, set to take place on Friday, May 3, 2024.

Hosted at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Activities Center, guests are invited to immerse themselves in an evening of musical prowess and culinary delights, with a catered meal by Diamondz and Divaz Catering.

Tickets are available for purchase until Friday, April 26, 2024. Tickets are priced at $40 per person, with the option to purchase a table for eight at the discounted price of $300. All proceeds will support the Somerset High School Band program.

When doors open at 6:30 p.m., the musical journey will commence with a vibrant Jazz Combo performance, setting the stage for an evening of captivating melodies. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m., accompanied by performances from the esteemed Wayne County High School Cardinal Big Band and the talented Somerset High School Jumper Jazz Band.

The grand finale will be brought to life by the renowned Somerset Big Band, offering a captivating repertoire spanning jazz classics, popular hits, movie themes, vocals, and more.

Somerset takes pride in its flourishing jazz programs, showcasing exceptional talent within its schools and boasting the professional Somerset Big Band, which recently made waves by recording an album in Nashville alongside acclaimed Christian Contemporary and Jazz musical artist Steven Marjerison for his recent Disney-styled project "Wishing on a Dream." This collaboration culminated in a memorable concert at The Center for Rural Development, further solidifying Somerset's standing in the realm of musical excellence.

Noteworthy performances by the Somerset Big Band include engagements at prestigious venues such as the Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia, the University of Kentucky's Singletary Center for the Arts, and an upcoming feature at the 2024 Master Musician's Festival, where they will captivate a sold-out crowd on Thursday night.
