Heather Locklear has posted an emotional message about addiction — with a reference to the death of a friend, Josh — on social media just days before she is due in court to face charges of battery and obstructing a police officer.

“Addiction is ferocious,” wrote the embattled 56-year-old actress in an Instagram post shared Wednesday. “Recovery is the best revenge. Be kind to everyone you meet, your light just might change their path.”

While Josh’s identity and the circumstances surrounding his death are unclear, the message is giving some Locklear fans hope that she herself is recovering following a series of arrests and hospitalizations.

The former Melrose Place star was hospitalized June 16 after her mother called 911 saying that Locklear was threatening to kill herself. Locklear was “agitated and violent,” the 911 operator claimed.

Police were called to her home a week later. Locklear was arrested and charged with two counts of misdemeanor battery on emergency personnel who responded to the call.

“She kicked one of our deputies, and she also kicked an EMT who tried to evaluate her medical status,” a spokesperson for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office told Yahoo Entertainment.

Upon returning home hours later, Locklear was hospitalized following reports of a suspected overdose.

Locklear is scheduled to be in court Sept. 27, where three new charges — battery on a police officer; battery on an EMT; and resisting, obstructing, or delaying a police officer — have been added to the four counts of misdemeanor battery on a police officer and one charge of resisting or obstructing a police officer she faced following a domestic incident with boyfriend Chris Heisser on Feb. 25.

While Locklear could be sentenced to jail time, her supporters remain optimistic that she’s turned a corner.

“Heather, I am so glad you are doing better!!!” read one comment. “Girl, you are supremely loved and cherished!!!”

“Stay strong!!!!!” added a fan.

“Be strong Heather — you have always been a beautiful woman,” wrote a commenter. “Keep the course.”

“I don’t know you personally, but I haven’t given up on you for your recovery,” another follower wrote. “You’ve got my support and forever loyalty from me.”
