Hannah Waddingham Receives Same 'Beautiful Honor' as Princess Diana, Kate Middleton

Hannah Waddingham, Princess Diana and Kate Middleton all share the same honors. Think you know what it is? We'll wait.
The Ted Lasso actress recently revealed that she has officially been named Godmother of Princess Cruise Line's new "Love Boat" Sun Princess ship following the cruise's maiden voyage this past February. This means that Waddingham, 49, will "christen" the ship as a token of good luck before it begins its lifetime of voyages.
"I couldn’t believe I have been asked to be a ship Godmother, having grown up around boats all my life and my grandfather was in the Atlantic Convoy in the Navy," the actress told People in an interview published on Monday, April 8. "To be asked to be a part of this beautiful honor is a ‘pinch me’ moment."
"I am also honored to be in the esteemed company with previous Godparents to Princess Ships including Diana, Princess of Wales, Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales Kate Middleton, Audrey Hepburn, Martha Stewart, and many others," she added.

Waddingham also told the publication that receiving the honors was a "privilege and pleasure" for her as her duties include sending all 4,300 guests "on their way safely with a big hug."
As the award-winning actress aforementioned, Diana was esteemed as the Godparent of the Royal Princess in 1984 and Middleton later graced the 2013 ship. Hepburn christened the Star Princess in 1989 and the following year, Sophia Loren accepted the duties aboard the Crown Princess–its newest ship was later blessed by Stewart in 2006.
"We’re delighted to welcome the illuminous and elegant Hannah Waddingham to serve as Godmother for our sensational new Sun Princess," said Princess Cruises president John Padgett in a statement. "Just like Sun Princess, she exudes sophistication, beauty and wonderment through her inspiring work as a talented and award-winning actress and performer. We’re truly honored Hannah will officially name our most impressive, luxurious and stunning Love Boat ever created, and join an esteemed group of Princess Godparents including members of the Royal family."
