Hannah Waddingham

Fans are cheering on actress Hannah Waddingham for her graceful yet firm response to a photographer's uncomfortable ask while she was posing for photos at the Olivier Awards.

The actress was looking elegant in a light lavender gown as photographers snapped photos before heading into the event when a member of the paparazzi allegedly requested that she "Show some leg."

In video footage captured by a fan whose X username is odeiotedlasso, Waddingham quickly reacted to the comment, sternly telling the photographer, "Oh my God, you'd never say that to a man, my friend," before warning that she'd leave if he continued.

The photographer's response was hard to hear, but after another interaction, the actress said, "Don't say 'show me leg.' No," and walked away. As she left, she took a moment to talk to the man face-to-face, concluding the conversation by saying, "Have some manners."

Many people shared the video calling out the photographer as well, with replies like, "Standing ovation for this icon. 👏," and "absolute queen behavior and a great example for younger girls in the industry about knowing their worth."

Waddingham, who is well-known for playing Rebecca Welton in Ted Lasso, has a long history of working in theater, and this was her second year hosting the Olivier Awards in London, England. While she was not nominated at either year's event, Waddingham has been nominated three times over the past two decades.

She was first nominated in 2007 for playing Lady of the Lake in Spamalot on Broadway and in the West End, while Waddingham nabbed a second nomination in 2010 for her performance in the revival of A Little Night Music. Her third Olivier Award nomination came in 2013 for Kiss Me, Kate.

Since then, she has built a very successful career on screen, earning an Emmy and SAG Award for her work in Ted Lasso. While she hasn't done a theater production in a while, fans will likely see Waddingham on stage again in the future.
