Cher's Relationship Advice: Date Younger Men and Turn Down Elvis Presley

We should all be more like Cher.

Cher has made headlines over the past few years, not just for her talent, amazing fashion sense or hilarious comebacks online, but also for her penchant for dating men much younger than herself. According to the "Believe" singer, dating younger guys is an intentional choice, as they tend to be more courageous in their romantic approach.

During her May 1 appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the pop icon first detailed why she turned down an opportunity to date Elvis Presley, and said, “It was because I was nervous and I knew of the people around him and it wasn’t that they were bad people, it's just that I was kind of nervous of his reputation.”

Despite her larger-than-life persona, Cher revealed that she's actually quite shy with men, but being in relationships with younger guys helps to bring her out of her shell and make her feel comfortable.

“I’m really shy when I’m not working and kind of shy around men,” she explained. “And the reason I go out with young men is because men my age or older — well now they’re all dead — but before they just never, they were always terrified to approach me and younger men were the only ones that...”

Hudson suggested that the younger men are “bold,” to which Cher replied, “Yeah, raised by women like me!"

Cher is currently in a relationship with Alexander "AE" Edwards, who is 38. The pair's near 40-year age difference hasn't put a dent in their romance, but the pop star has acknowledged that it seems odd at first glance.

Speaking about her relationship with Edwards on The Kelly Clarkson Show in 2022, Cher said at the time, "On paper, it's kind of ridiculous, but in real life, we get along great. He's fabulous. And I don't give men qualities that they don't deserve."
