Cheers! Celebrate The Nile Theater's 100th anniversary with commemorative beer

In celebration of the Nile Theater’s 100th anniversary, Phoenix Beer Company has partnered with the historic Mesa landmark to announce a special edition beer can.

Launching on May 1, the special edition Nile Theater-themed can will contain a new Phoenix Beer Co. lager.

“We see the Nile as a staple in the music industry here in Phoenix. A lot of great bands that sell out arenas today got their start at the Nile,” said Adam Wojcik, brewery director at Phoenix Beer Co. “With the rich history that the Nile has, we are really just flattered to be a part of something for them.”

Since 1924, The Nile Theater building has stood on Main Street as a staple of downtown Mesa. In the century since its initial construction, the building has served a variety of purposes, including a movie theater, clothing store, nightclub and church.

After its era as Faith Harvest Church, the property was sold in 2010 to new owners who revamped the historic building to accommodate three concert venues and a vegan coffee shop, returning the venue to its original purpose as a hub for entertainment.

Concert go-ers and coffee lovers alike can admire the history of The Nile through the interiors' Egyptian style, an homage to the theater’s original Marquee and design.

The design team at Phoenix Beer Co. noted the Egyptian-style The Nile has established and incorporated elements of this theme into the special edition can.

Michelle Donovan, the owner of The Nile, said she believes theater regulars will be thrilled with the can’s gold and black design. “They took pieces from our 100-year logo and mashed it up with some other art deco, Egyptian imagery,” said Donovan, "So it's a very classic looking can.”

The special edition can of lager from Phoenix Beer Co. and The Nile Theater may be purchased exclusively at the theater beginning the week of May 1.
