From Molly Ringwald's recent dressing room confession to JAY-Z immortalizing the moment in a song, these celebrities have told the world about their kids' conception,

Celebrities are so proud of their kids, it's no surprise that they want to share all of their milestones and achievements.

Whatis a bit more surprising is how many were willing to share the details of their kids' conception. Some even went on to name their children after the cities and — in Ron Howard's case — the exact street they did the deed, only to bring home a baby nine months later.

From Beyoncé and JAY-Z to Victoria and David Beckham, see the celebrities who have revealed where their kids were conceived.

In March 2024, actress Molly Ringwald told The Times that her daughter Matilda, 20, had a, shall we say, dramatic conception story: It happened backstage when Ringwald was playing Sally Bowles in Cabaret.

"I believe that Mathilda was conceived in the dressing room at Studio 54 right at the end of my run playing Sally Bowles in Cabaret in 2003," Ringwald said of her eldest daughter, shared with husband Panio Gianopoulos. "It's so Mathilda to be conceived in such an iconic place."

Beyoncé announced that she and husband JAY-Z were expecting their first baby in a showing-stopping performance at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. And JAY-Z later leveled up that announcement by setting the location of Blue Ivy's conception to verse.

Following her birth in 2012, JAY-Z released the song "Glory," dedicated to his baby girl. In one of the verses, the Brooklyn-born rapper proudly boasts, "You don't yet know what swag is but you was made in Paris/And Mama woke up the next day and shot her album package."

The Carters have since welcomed two more kids, twins Rumi and Sir.

Ron and Cheryl Howard chose middle names for their children based on the location of their conception.

"The rule was, it's wherever we were conceived. It's so disgusting!" Bryce Dallas Howard told film critic Peter Travers back in 2015. "For me, it was a city, for my sisters, it was a hotel [Carlyle]. My brother, his middle name was Cross after a place we used to live ... That was our road where our house was. My dad would make this joke, 'I didn't want to call him back of the Volvo!' "

Ron got a good laugh while corroborating the story when he spoke with Graham Bensinger last year.

An uber-romantic encounter with love Swizz Beatz in Hawaii led to Egypt's arrival nine months later, as Alicia Keys recounted in her book More Myself.

"'Open it,' Swizz said as he slid the box toward me. "I lifted the cardboard flaps and looked inside to see several large canisters. 'I've always wanted you to be my canvas,' he whispered. The canisters were full of body paint ... Never have I experienced anything more sensual. Which is why, when I missed my period a few weeks later, I wasn't exactly surprised. As that winter gave way to spring, we relished two pleasures: the engagement and the pregnancy."

With the name Brooklyn, it's easy to see how fans of Victoria and David Beckham thought their firstborn was conceived in the Concrete Jungle. However, the former Spice Girl cleared the air and revealed the couple was nowhere near New York when they conceived Brooklyn.

"Actually, I got pregnant in Denmark," Victoria told Chili magazine back in the day, per Danish website BT. "We were on tour with the Spice Girls, and had come to Copenhagen. David visited me, and yes... then it happened.'"

She didn't find out until she was in New York months later, however.

A little vacation to an "obscure town in Mexico" gave Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith their son, Jaden.

In a YouTube video commemorating Jaden's 21st birthday back in 2020, Will joked that for his son's 22nd, he planned to "make a little house with the scene" of how Jaden was conceived. "It's gon' be a little villa in Mexico ... there'll be Jose Cuervo tequila everywhere," the Independence Day actor joked as guests laughed.

One couple whose New York-based name did have to do with her conception: Nick and Vanessa Lachey's daughter Brooklyn. "We were living in New York at the time,” Nick told TODAY. “She was a product of that chapter in our lives.”

(He later clarified to PEOPLE, "Well, if you must know, she was conceived in New York. Not in Brooklyn, per se, but we felt the Upper West Side didn’t have a good ring to it and we wanted to pay an homage to New York.")

The couple also has two other kids: Camden, 11 (named after the street their obstetrician was on) and Phoenix, 7 (not named after the city).

A little Johnnyswim led to Chip and Joanna Gaines adding a seventh family member to their brood.

In January 2018, the couple announced they were expecting their fifth child, who was conceived in Waco, Texas after they saw Johnnyswim in concert.

"You might recall a few months back.. the ever amazing, ever romantic @JOHNNYSWIM was in Waco. And they put on a little too romantic of a concert,” Chip tweeted. “Anyways, one thing led to another, & we are officially pregnant. And I could not be more EXCITED! #5 #7ThePerfectNumber.”

Crew, 5, was born on June 21, 2018 and he joined older siblings Drake, 19, Ella, 17, Duke, 15 and Emmie, 14.

During her 2015 Saturday Night Live monologue, Dakota Johnson had an interesting realization.

"In December of 1988, my mother stood in this exact spot and hosted SNL," she began. "And this is true: Right after the show, my father got down on one knee and proposed to her for the second time."

She continued, "Exactly nine months later, I was born. So I must have been conceived that night after the show or even during the show." She then cut to her parents — Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson — who were seemingly embarrassed and covering their faces. "Isn't that right you guys?" the 50 Shades of Grey actress asked, to which Griffith quietly responded, "That's right."

As the trio wrapped the skit, Don clarified that they were covering their faces not because they were embarrassed by the conception story, but because they thought Dakota would be naked.
