The play, which opened to excellent reviews Tuesday, will now run through Sunday, June 16, at MTC’s Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.

More from Deadline

Directed by Anne Kauffman, Mary Jane stars McAdams as the mother of a critically ill young boy. Relying on sheer optimism and humor, the single mom of the title faces each day through inner strength, love and a makeshift family of caretakers, nurses and other mothers facing tragedy.

In addition to McAdams, Mary Jane features April Matthis (The Piano Lesson), Susan Pourfar (Tribes), Lily Santiago (La Brea), and Brenda Wehle (The Gilded Age).
