It's time to bring out the sweet and salty movie theater snacks and cozy car blankets — Louisville's Downtown Drive-In series will be returning on May 31.

Hosted by the Louisville Downtown Partnership in collaboration with the Waterfront Development Corporation and the Downtown CineBus, the Downtown Drive-In series will transform Waterfront Park into a cinematic experience on select Fridays through October, according to a news release.

Free to the public at the Waterfront's Brown-Forman Amphitheater, the drive-in series provides "locals and visitors alike the chance to enjoy free movie screenings in the heart of the city."

Partnership Executive Director Rebecca Fleischaker said the organization is excited to return with the annual event.

“We're delighted to bring back our movie night series, providing the community a chance to come together and enjoy the magic of cinema in Downtown Louisville,” she said. “Movie nights are a cherished tradition for families and friends and the Downtown Drive-In provides a unique opportunity to experience a classic under the stars.”

Snacks and beverages from Pig Beach BBQ and Ten20 Craft Brewery will be available for purchase and the amphitheater opens to the public an hour before showtime.
