New Albany graduates in running for biggest new artist competition

NEW ALBANY, Ohio (WCMH) – A musical duo consisting of two New Albany High School graduates is in the running to win Nashville’s biggest new artist competition.

2015 New Albany graduates Blake Bergere and Nick Lorenz formed their band Bird and Byron in 2019. They are now asking the community to help them make it to the next round of Nashville’s biggest new artists competition led by Lightning 100: Music City Mayhem.

Bergere and Lorenz are lifelong friends who live in Nashville and work on music full-time. The duo released a self-written and self-produced album in 2023, titled “Bird and Byron.” One of the duo’s singles, “By My Side” was featured on Netflix’s “The Lincoln Lawyer.”

On June 7, the group is returning to Columbus for a headline show at Ace of Cups. Voting for the new artist competition will take place on April 11 from 7 a.m. to midnight. Votes can be placed here.
