CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM)– An anti-bullying assembly featuring LGBTQ TV star and author Maulik Pancholy will proceed at Mountain View Middle School after the Cumberland Valley School District voted to undo their cancelation of the assembly.

“30 Rock” star and author Maulik Pancholy said in a statement Thursday that he “cannot wait to meet all of you in person.”

Pancholy was slated to give an anti-bullying speech at the middle school on May 22 until the school board voted to rescind the invitation over what one member called Pancholy’s “lifestyle.” Other members cited his political activism.

On Wednesday the board voted 5-4 to reinstate the event after receiving national backlash.

Pancholy said that he was “inspired” by those who came to the meeting, voicing their support for him.

“I recognize that there is much healing and work that still needs to happen,” Pancholy said. “My heart is with you as your community continues to come together. Please know that your actions have been an inspiration to myself and to so many who have been watching.”
