2024 NFL draft in Detroit: What the prospects wore on the red carpet
Designer tennis shoes, grills and, of course, Cartier buffs all made an appearance on the NFL draft red carpet Thursday but many of the prospects chose to use the red carpet as an opportunity to honor their families and communities.
About a dozen of the top NFL draft prospects walked the red carpet at the Fox Theatre in downtown Detroit in suits widely ranging in colors, from salmon to pastel green, before the first round of the draft later in the evening.
Terrion Arnold had two photos on the inside of his suit: one of the first time he started playing football and another of his family with him for signing day.
"The draft is all about proving the naysayers wrong and showing the doubters you can do anything you put your mind to," he said, referring to the word "LANK" embroidered on the inside of his suit, a reference to the clothing brand he co-created.
Caleb Williams also wore a custom suit, designed by the California-based brand Chrome Hearts. The navy blue, double-breasted suit had silver cross accents and a zipper instead of buttons. He painted two of his nails silver to match, a choice inspired by his mother, who is a nail technician.
Marvin Harrison Jr., who played college football for Ohio State University, wore a custom necklace featuring an image of his father, former NFL player Marvin Harrison.
"He helped me get here," Harrison Jr. said. "There's no one I credit my success to more than him. It's only right that I gave him this honor."
Darius Robinson, who played college football for Missouri and is from Michigan, wore purple-tinted Cartier buffs that were "iced out on the sides" he said, which he said was a nod to Detroit.
"My favorite color is purple so I just put it all together," he said of his patterned purple and blue suit jacket that matched the sunglasses.
