YB Loves: The Perfect Smoky Eyeshadow We Waited Five Months to Try

Is there anything more frustrating than coveting something that doesn’t exist? That’s how I’ve felt since I saw the gorgeous gunmetal eyeshadow used at Tom Ford’s Spring 2015 fashion show in September. Finally, five months later I’ve gotten my hands on a pot of Tom Ford Creme Color for Eyes in Spring 2015 ($42), and thankfully it lives up to the hype.

For his spring show, Ford was inspired by ‘70s rock and roll glamour. This translated to smoky eyes, nude lips, and flawless skin—a classic, wearable look most women (myself included) totally adore. I’ve actually been obsessed with the Platinum version of the shade for the past few months, and it’s perfect for providing a subtle shimmer, but when it’s time to up the ante, the new spring hue hits the spot. The creamy texture feels as light and delicate as chocolate mousse, but the color payoff is huge. It’s a true gunmetal grey with the smallest hint of sparkle. And just like my old favorite, it has a satiny application, never creases, and lasts all day—a mere miracle for cream shadow, especially since I never use lid primer.

The best part of this cream shadow? Its versatility. Want a subtle smoky eye? Use a small amount of product for a light wash over the eye, diffusing it up just past the crease in your lid. For a more defined look, wing it out and keep pigment closer to the lash line. The one down side of the shadow? It’s limited edition. If you want to give it a whirl, you better pick up a pop quickly, while supplies last.
