YB Loves: A Clean Summer Scent

Each day the editors of Yahoo Beauty are sharing one noteworthy product we feel should be on your radar. From the latest and greatest items that land on our desks to indie products with a cool backstory to the old standbys that have earned a permanent place on our vanities, trust us: you’ll want to check them out.

I love to shop when I’m traveling, and have hauled back maps, throw cushions, and even a crystal chandelier from Prague — I balanced it in a box on my lap for the duration of the flight. But my latest discovery is more fleeting than a framed print: Lili Bermuda.

This perfumery dates back to 1928 and is located in the historic town of St George in Bermuda — a UNESCO World Heritage site. The building has pink and white striped wallpaper and exposed wooden beams. It looks and feels like an antique English cottage. All of the perfumes are inspired by local scents, such as Easter lilies and Bermuda cedar wood, which is only found on the island. Every bottle of perfume is created, poured and packaged on site — and is only available in the store or online. If you happen to be there on a Wednesday or Tuesday, afternoon tea is served in the garden.

I fell in love with Fresh Water cologne ($70). The scent is a blend of bigarade (bitter) orange, Italian bergamot, mandarin and grapefruit as well as neroli and petitgrain but to me it smells like just one thing: lemon. More specifically, a freshly squeezed, zesty lemon. The scent is clean, bright, and perfect for the summer. Every time I spritz it on I’m reminded of my trip and when I run out, I’ll start daydreaming about another visit to Bermuda to stock up.
