YB Loves: A Brush that Makes Eyeliner Application Easy

I’ve never been very good with eyeliner. I can’t seem to draw an even line, or get the right shape on my cat eye. I’ve always just blamed it on my lack of makeup skills (despite going to makeup school, I still have a lot to learn). Over the weekend, I found myself in the mood for a feline flick. I rifled through my makeup drawer in search of a liner (I picked up Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Espresso Ink, $25) and then, I needed a brush. I remembered that makeup artist Jenny Patinkin had given me her Pin-Point Liner Brush ($24) over coffee in Chicago, and she promised me that this brush would make me a liner pro. (Over the years I’ve had a lot of people tell me I could master eyeliner over the years if I just tried this pencil or that brush but had yet to be convinced.) I was still a bit skeptical but I pulled out her brush, dipped it in my pot of liner, and slowly applied the color across my upper lashline.

Patinkin was right. The soft, fine haired brush moved smoothly across my lid, leaving an even and clean line behind it. It’s the shape of the brush that really makes it stand out from your typical eyeliner brush. It isn’t angled, but instead has a round, pencil shaped tip that makes application extra precise. I actually couldn’t believe I had nailed my cat eye in just one attempt — for the first time ever. Before you decide to completely give up on eyeliner, give this game-changing brush a try.
