This Really Works: The Easiest Way to Remove Your Gel Manicure

image

With my newfound love for the at-home gel manicure, I had to find an easy (and at-home) way to remove the polish. If you’ve never had a gel manicure before, the removal process can be a little bit complex. It usually involves soaking a cotton ball in acetone, placing it on your nail, wrapping each nail in tin foil (Edward Scissorhands-style), and waiting for about 10 minutes while the acetone dissolves the polish. It’s this foil part that really gets me. During these 10 minutes it’s impossible to do anything, your hands are totally useless. Plus, once you’ve got your first hand wrapped up, it’s nearly impossible to wrap up your other five fingers. You really need a nice friend around to help you get through it—and that isn’t always an option. And while it’s good to take 10 minutes and do nothing, sometimes you need to be able to multitask.

Enter Ciaté London Geltox Detox kit. This kit takes the mess of the foil out of the removal process and comes with a stretchy, Ace-bandage style tape roll prepped with cotton pads. After buffing the surface of the nails using the included file, cut the tape to fit around each finger, apply the special removal solution to the cotton pad, and wrap around your nail. It’s infinitely easier to wrap your next hand and (depending on your tech skill level) you’ll still be able to use your iPhone while you wait the 10 minutes for the remover to work it’s magic. No more Scissorhands!
