The 10 Minute Facial at Skin Laundry

There is no shortage of quick beauty fixes for the time-pressed New Yorker. Blowout bars like DreamDry and Drybar have made a business catering to women in less than 45 minutes, as have the many manicure and pedicure salons around the city. Now our skin is getting the pop-in treatment with Skin Laundry, a skincare facility based out of Los Angeles that has brought its signature ten minute facial to its first New York location.

Founder Yen Reis conceived of the idea while suffering from hormonal acne following the birth of her third child. “This combination was the only thing that worked,” says Reis. “The best thing about this is that it’s non-invasive, so you can do it more regularly as opposed to something more invasive that you do once every six months.” Aimed at tightening and brightening skin and targeting bacteria and acne-causing agents, the treatment features two rounds of a mild laser followed by a phototherapy light session.

Much like a manicure, Skin Laundry shows optimal results when frequented on a regular basis. The price per session ranges from $33 to $65, depending on the package. After trying it once, I emerged more radiant and my skin felt smoother. I don’t know how long the feeling will last, but hopefully until my second session. “After a while, you’ll understand your skin well enough to know how often you should be coming in, but we say at least once a week,” says Reis. “People do get addicted.”
