Maoists strike in Bihar, kill 5 security personnel

Five security personnel were killed and seven injured in a gun fight with Maoists in Aurangabad district of Bihar on Wednesday. The Maoists had attacked the base camp of a construction firm and tried to destroy a bridge over river Belaru in Goh police station area of Aurangabad. They also set three dumper trucks on fire. The explosions alerted the local police and the special auxiliary police (SAP) was sent in to contain the attack. The police force got caught up in the ambush that had been set by the rebels on their expected route. Daljit Singh, SP, Aurangabad said that three jawans of SAP and two personnel of a private security agency hired by the construction company were killed in the encounter.
