Scott Kelly Is Now Two Inches Taller Than When He Left Earth

This could cause some twin envy.

From Popular Mechanics

Scott Kelly has made a triumphant and safe return from space, and now the science of how a year of microgravity affected his body can begin. There are bound to be some interesting discoveries as he's compared to his Earthbound twin Mark, but the first one is easy to see. Scott is now two inches taller, for now anyway.

"Astronauts get taller in space as the spine elongates but they return to preflight height after a short time back on Earth," NASA's Jeff Williams told CNN in an interview. And while Scott may be shrinking, he should have at least a few days to lord his newfound height over his brother. As for other, more substantial and permanent differences, we'll have to wait for more in-depth analysis. At the very least we know that a year in space can do the same thing as some platform shoes.
