Toyota Racing Development Pro Series Models Debut in Chicago

Equipped with factory-installed off-roading hardware from its Toyota Racing Development (TRD) catalog, Toyota introduced three new models that are collectively known as the TRD Pro Series at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show.

The TRD Pro Series treatment can be applied to the 2015 4Runner, 2015 Tacoma, and the 2015 Tundra as long as Black, Super White, or new Inferno paint colors are selected. Each vehicle is equipped with Bilstein high-performance shocks with remote fluid reservoirs for improved heat management and cavitation control, new front springs, a front skid plate, and a redesigned grille stamped with "TOYOTA" in big, block letters.

In addition to these upgrades the 2015 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro features black bumper accents, black badges, a 1.5-inch front suspension lift, and an additional inch of wheel travel all around. A new set of 17-inch TRD aluminum wheels is exclusive to this version of the 4Runner, painted black.

The 2015 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro adds black-painted 16-in. beadlock-style wheels with all-terrain tires, a TRD cat-back exhaust system, 2-in. front suspension lift, and decreased spring rates to improve the ride over difficult terrain. Wheel travel improves by an inch up front and 1.5 in. in back. Black TRD PRO badges help to differentiate this version of the Tacoma from other models.

These same upgrades are applied to the 2015 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, but the beadlock wheels are swapped out for black 18-inch aluminum wheels with off-road tires, and the cat-back exhaust system is changed to a TRD dual exhaust system. Wheel travel increases by 2 in. in front and 1.25 in. in back. The Tundra TRD Pro also gets a unique seat color with contrast stitching, a special instrument panel insert, and "TRD PRO" stamped into the quarter panels.

Toyota says that the new TRD Pro Series models will roll into showrooms in the fall of 2014.
