Would You Pay $35,110 for Nissan's First Ever Hybrid Pathfinder?
Nissan has revealed pricing for its 2014 Pathfinder Hybrid, now in dealer showrooms. The more fuel-efficient hybrid variant of the 14 Pathfinder model configurations available for the 2014 model year, has an MSRP of $35,110 (without destination charge), which is $3,000 more than a comparably equipped 2014 Pathfinder SV model powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 engine.
The Pathfinder 7-passenger, midsize crossover (CUV) was first introduced by Nissan in 1986 as a truck-based sport utility vehicle, and is now in its fourth generation. This is the first year that a hybrid variant debuts. Powered by a supercharged, 2.5-liter gasoline engine and 15-kW electric motor with Lithium-ion battery, the new Pathfinder Hybrid is rated at 250 horsepower and 243 lb.-ft. of torque. Nissan maintains that the vehicle's battery, which fits under the third-row seat, does not compromise passenger or cargo room.
According to the automaker, the new Pathfinder Hybrid is 24% more fuel-efficient than the standard V-6-powered 2WD Pathfinder and is EPA-rated to return 25 mpg in city driving and 28 mpg on the highway. The model's powertrain features a CVT (continuously variable transmission). Regenerative braking helps recharges the battery when braking. Nissan also offers customizable hybrid system information screens on the instrument panel, and there is a 4.2-inch color monitor to display power output readings.
