Corvette Z06 Crashes Hours After Owner Takes the Keys

All supercars will crash, but every supercar crashes in its own special way. With the 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06 just hitting the streets, it was only a matter of weeks or days before someone tested how well it absorbed an impact — and of course the blessed event was caught on video.

Per CarThrottle, the driver in question was testing launch control and did not anticipate the sudden arrival of 650 hp in second gear, sending the Z06 headlong into the ditch. While not totaled, the Z06 will require $20,000 worth of repairs, and a sizable red flag on its Carfax report.

Not to get all afterschool-special here, but it doesn’t have to be this way. Chevy offers every new Corvette buyer a special discount at the Ron Meadows Performance Driving school. Two days of classes run $1,000, and you don’t need to bring your own Vette. Compared to the option prices on any new car, it’s a bargain; for a new Corvette owner, it’s a steal to avoid becoming Internet famous.
