What Cars The Presidential Candidates Should Drive

Cars and politics have always lived in the same spheres.

What one drives can define ones ideology. It was no mistake that after Hillary Clinton launched her campaign she took to the road in an armored Chevy van. Former Massachusetts’ senator Scott Brown surprised his competition with his campaign from behind the wheel of his GMC Canyon pickup.

For years, Strategic Vision has surveyed tens of thousands of people to illuminate those connections. It’s found that Republicans are three times more likely to drive a pickup than Democrats, and highly energy efficient vehicles tend to have Democrats in the driver’s seat.

There are exceptions, of course, and a few surprises judging by the most recent Strategic Vision survey, such as independents prefer the Hyundai Santa Fe, and Nissan Armada owners political persuasion is “none of the above.”

That’s why I tried to ask the current crop of presidential candidates to tell readers what they drive. Unfortunately, no one bothered to return my request.

So I’m going to offer up my suggestions for what new set of wheels each candidate should roll up in for their next rally. Because in politics, image matters, and nothing projects an image about a person more than their choice of a new car.

Here are my choices.
