Stephen Colbert challenges Bob Lutz, 80, to pushup contest; outcome never in doubt

Former General Motors vice chairman and lizard king of Detroit car guys Bob Lutz has stayed in the news since his semi-retirement by acting as an oracle on the Chevy Volt and all things automotive, for better and worse. Based on last night's visit with Stephen Colbert that ended with an impromptu pushup contest, maybe the 80-year-old vegetarian should consider branching out into exercise videos. See why below.

Like Betty White, Bob Lutz has been old as long as many people in the industry can remember. His peers once gathered to roast him with a series of age-related jabs, such as: "Bob Lutz was born in Switzerland, or as it was known then, Gaul." That was a decade ago. And while he's no longer an official GM employee, he's still paid to advise GM and other automakers.

Given that Lutz's father worked as an attorney until the age of 100, Colbert has at least another decade to get into fighting shape.
