The Lexus LFA speeds off: Flickr photo of the day

The 499th and penultimate Lexus LFA built was delivered today to its new American owner, ending a decade-long odyssey of a Japanese supercar that's a rolling monument to obsessions. The LFA seemed to spring whole from Toyota's labs, as if years of pent-up desire to build something lustworthy had to be excised on a single vehicle. It's always occupied an odd place in the supercar realm -- rare, but never as sought after as a Ferrari 458; fast, but often not as quick as the Nissan GT-R or higher-end Porsche 911s. The 500 built, like this one caught by Countach fan, will become notable for their sheer uniqueness.
