June 5: Kissel Motor Car Company was founded on this date in 1906

Louis Kissel, along with sons George and William, founded their eponymous motor car company on this date 107 years ago. Kissel manufactured more than 35,000 cars -- including a Speedster for Amelia Earhart -- before filing for bankruptcy in 1930, which is more than we can say about most automakers. Moral of the story: Start a car company on a date when not much else of historical significance occurred in the automotive world, and someday, someone will write a blog post about you.
