Video: Officers Rescue Child from Hot Van in Store Parking Lot

A New Jersey officer smashed the window of a hot minivan to rescue a child who was sweating profusely.

Bergen County sheriff’s Officer Rich Carrion was alerted by a Costco employee in Hackensack around 4 p.m. Thursday and he found the girl crying in a car seat. The air temperature at the time was in the 80s with high humidity, and when police took her out, the little girl was drenched in sweat.

As officers started running the minivan’s license plate to find out who the parents were, the mother emerged with another child on a shopping cart.
