One dead, one injured following head-on crash in Wisconsin

ELBA, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Wisconsin say one woman is dead and one man was hurt following a head-on crash Wednesday morning.

According to a release from the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at 7:48 a.m. for reports of a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 16/60 near O’Connor Road in the town of Elba, just about a mile outside of Columbus.

Officials say a 22-year-old woman from Watertown was driving west on State Highway 16/60 when it crossed the center line and crashed head-on into an eastbound vehicle driven by a 60-year-old Pardeeville man.

The 22-year-old woman, who had to be removed from the vehicle, was pronounced dead on the scene while the 60-year-old man was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities add that State Highway 16/60 was fully closed between Baden Street and County Highway TT for an unmentioned amount of time for emergency personnel and the crash investigation.

Said crash investigation remains ongoing by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and its Crash Investigation Team.
