United Airlines cuts hiring plans for 2024 due to Boeing delays
United Airlines will hire fewer-than-expected employees this year due to delays in aircraft deliveries from Boeing, a company executive said on Tuesday. Kate Gebo, head of United's human resources and labor relations, told reporters the airline currently expects to hire close to 10,000 new employees in 2024 compared with 13,000 to 15,000 employees planned earlier. United, a prominent customer of Boeing, has been hit by the planemaker's safety crisis.

More than 90% of cultural heritage was rescued from Danish stock exchange fire, government says
As fire tore through downtown Copenhagen’s Old Stock Exchange in mid-April, many people in the Danish capital rushed toward the flames and emerged carrying paintings, sculptures, and other important items from Denmark’s cultural heritage. Seven weeks on and with about half the 17th-century building destroyed — including its iconic dragon-tail spire — Denmark's Culture Minister Jakob Engel-Schmidt said that more than 90% of the building's cultural objects had been rescued from the fire. “People from the fire brigade, employees, and volunteers just coming out of the streets were helping to save the artworks,” Engel-Schmidt told The Associated Press in an interview.

Black workers sue General Mills over discrimination at Georgia plant
General Mills has been sued by eight Black employees who accused the food company of tolerating decades of racism at a suburban Atlanta plant led by white managers known as the Good Ole Boys. A complaint filed on Sunday said managers at the Covington plant, which makes cereal and trail mix, favor whites for promotions over more qualified Blacks, subject Blacks to tougher performance standards, and manufacture false evidence to justify demoting Blacks. One plaintiff, Keith McClinton, said that after "KKK" was scrawled on his lunchbox in 2006, he was forced to give a handwriting sample to show he did not do it himself.

US health experts review MDMA as treatment for PTSD

Canadian AI startup Cohere has raised $450 million in funding from returning investors such as Nvidia and Salesforce Ventures, as well as new investors including Cisco and Canadian pension fund PSP Investments, according to a source familiar the matter. This concludes the first tranche of Cohere's monthslong fundraising efforts, while the company is still in talks to raise more in the same round at $5 billion valuation, added the source, speaking on condition of anonymity. The funding marks a jump in valuation from Cohere's last private raise, when it was valued at $2.2 billion from investors including Inovia Capital last June.
