Police Perform for Superhero Day at Children's Hospital in Austin

Police officers in Austin, Texas, marked Superhero Day on Thursday, October 13, with a performance for patients at the Dell Children’s Medical Center.

In footage of the event released by the Austin Police Department, officers dressed up as villains and superheroes , including Batman, Superman, and Storm from the X-Men franchise, are seen abseiling down the side of the hospital building before meeting kids inside.

- APC Superhero started in 2015. It was just kind of like, a few people had an idea. Could we do this thing? And boy, did it blow up. This just embraces the character of people that we have at the police department that truly want to make the world better. And so come here for one day and cheer up these kids is an amazing thing. And it shows to what we want to do with people.

- And when I see them, that I can see the smile, it just lightens-- it just brightens me, my smile.
