Whoopi Goldberg Explodes at Baltimore Rioters on 'The View': 'You Should Be Ashamed of Yourselves!'

Whoopi Goldberg had a message for the rioters in Baltimore Tuesday morning: “You should be ashamed of yourselves!” she shouted more than once at the camera, as though looking into the eyes of those who’ve destroyed property in the wake of the death of Freddie Gray.

The panelists also had high praise for the Baltimore mother captured on video slapping her son who was presumably taking part in some of the demonstrations, with Goldberg terming her a “hero.”

It had been a while since I’d tuned in to The View, whose “Hot Topics” segments have become tepid topics since the departures of Rosie O’Donnell and especially Elisabeth Hasselbeck. But I thought perhaps the Baltimore tinder-box might elicit some sort of debate between Goldberg, Rosie Perez, and Nicole Wallace.

Alas, the taming of The View continues. Goldberg began the show not with a Baltimore discussion, but with a “news” item that the new Apple watch is not going to allow you to download any app that makes a passing-gas sound. That’s right: The View spent its opening minutes talking about a fart app.

When the subject turned to Baltimore, Goldberg made her “shame” remarks, Perez offered that “The Wire predicted this for a very long time” (can’t figure out if that would please creator David Simon or not), while Wallace, the nominal conservative in this bunch, was notably quiet other than to ask no one in particular, “What role does Twitter have?” in disseminating details of upcoming riots.

Then it was onto other stuff, such as ice cream made with breast milk, or as Wallace called it, “boobie-milk.”

Is it any wonder The View’s ratings are in decline?
