'Veep' Star Tony Hale on His Emmy-Nominated Episode and His 'House of Cards' Crossover Hopes

For the third year in a row, actor Tony Hale is nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. He won in 2013 for his role of Gary Walsh on the hit HBO comedy series Veep, a part that has him following around President Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) as her personal “bag man.” The actor received his nomination for the second episode of Veep’s fourth season, “East Wing.” In the above video, he breaks down some of his favorite moments, including a dramatic blow-up between Gary and his boss, President Meyer. “It got really raw,” says Hale, who also explains the process of building the scene with Louis-Dreyfus, herself an Emmy nominee for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series.

With two Emmy nominations under his belt, Hale says he’s ready for a new challenge: Frank Underwood. So, how would the feeble Gary hold up as the personal assistant to Kevin Spacey’s ruthless Commander in Chief? Watch Hale’s answer:

Finally, things also got “raw” in Tony’s Yahoo Confessional, when the actor reveals the most famous person he’s seen naked (Hint: She was on Sex in the City).

The first four seasons of Veep are available to stream on HBO Now and HBO Go; Season 5 premieres in 2016. Be sure to tune into Yahoo’s 67th Emmy Awards red carpet, live on Sept. 20 at 3:30 p.m. PT/ 6:30 p.m. ET.
