‘American Idol’ Best From Top 12 Night

Wednesday’s American Idol showcased the Top 12 first performances. While all of the singers gave it their all, a few stood out.

In a pretaped segment, Avalon Young explained how she’s the definition of chill. “No makeup saves me a couple hours in the morning. Baggy clothes, comfortable all day. Skateboard, gets me where I need to go on time. I might not be your typical girlie girl, but this is the only way I’m going to go out on stage, because this is where I find my confidence.” She then gave a relaxed performance of Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself” while sitting on the floor.

Thomas Stringfellow explained in his intro that people thought he was a weirdo for fluently speaking pig Latin with his sister. He channeled those memories into a soulful performance of Radiohead’s “Creep.”

Then La’Porsha Renae stole the show with an electrifying performance of “Proud Mary.”
