Pun in a Million: 'The Daily Show's' Best Visual Gags

We miss Jon Stewart for a number of reasons: Ever since the Daily Show king signed off for good on Aug. 6, there’s been no more Gitmo, no more Moments of Zen, and no more chats with Denis Leary. Worst of all, we’ve had to endure a paucity of the show’s patented visual gags, those moments when Stewart would react with feigned outrage and/or genuine hilarity to the mock news graphics his crew would create. In honor of The Daily Show’s three Emmy nominations, we’ve compiled a supercut collection of some of the show’s best visual gags, culled from Stewart’s final year on the air.

Relive such funny eyes-only punchlines as “When Barry Met Silly…” (poking fun at the outcry over Stewart’s one-on-one meetings with President Obama) and “Fifty Shades of Gay,” (aired after the Supreme Court’s landmark ruling on marriage equality). And naturally, there’s plenty of digs at Stewart’s No. 1 obsession in his last few months: Donald Trump aka “Rant Man” and “Tri-Hairatops.” We’re looking forward to the fresh blood that Trevor Noah will bring to The Daily Show, but here’s hoping the visual gag team hasn’t changed.

The Daily Show With Trevor Noah premieres Sept. 28 at 11 p.m. on Comedy Central. The 67th Emmy Awards air Sept. 20 on Fox. Be sure to tune into Yahoo’s live Emmys pre-show on Sept. 20 at 3:30 p.m. PT/ 6:30 p.m. ET.
