'Revolution' Gets Comic Book Closure

Crank up the power, Revolution fans! The lights have been switched back on — sort of — for the defunct NBC sci-fi series, which ended its two-season run in May 2014. Set in a post-apocalyptic future where electricity (and the United States as we know it) is a thing of the past, Revolution cultivated a passionate fan following that made their displeasure with the show’s cancellation known through social media and an online petition. Those viewers will now get some closure via a just-announced digital comic book from Warner Bros. Television and DC Comics.

The four-part comic series is being overseen by the show’s creative team, headed up by Revolution’s creator Eric Kripke, who addressed all the “Revolutionaries, Patriots, and Soldiers of the Monroe Militia” in a prepared statement, saying “While, unfortunately, we simply can’t make more episodes of the show… we can do the next best thing. Which is end the story. On our terms.  Exactly the way we would have.”

The end will begin on Monday, May 4, with the release of the first issue on ComicBook.com; subsequent installments will be released on May 18 and June 1, with the final issue scheduled for June 15. (Each issue will also be made available on Revolution’s Facebook page the week after its ComicBook.com debut.) DC Comics artist Angel Hernandez will be drawing all your favorite characters, while Revolution writers’ room vets David Reed and Ryan Parrott are the primary scribes. Now let’s all work on getting a comic book finale for FlashForward.
