Ratings: 'American Ninja Warrior,' 'Bachelorette' Monday's Top Shows

The summer’s Monday ratings leaders, NBC’s American Ninja Warrior and ABC’s The Bachelorette, were neck-and-neck for bragging rights on the final Monday of June, and they helped keep Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance at its low-level numbers.
According to preliminary national estimates from Nielsen, American Ninja Warrior (1.9 rating/7 share in adults 18-49, 6.7 million viewers overall) was up a tick from last week to stand as Monday’s top show in 18-49 and 25-54 (tied with The Bachelorette), most male demos and total viewers. And closing out the night, Bear Grylls rookie series The Island continues to do OK (1.¼ in 18-49, 3.4 million viewers overall), up a tenth from last week to match its highest score since its premiere; it beat out programming on both CBS and ABC for the hour’s broadcast lead in 18-49.
NBC edged ahead of ABC for the night in adults 18-49, and the nets tied in total viewers.
ABC’s The Bachelorette (1.9/7 in 18-49, 6.6 million viewers overall) was down a tenth from last week but on par with its recent average, tying with NBC’s Ninja Warrior for the 8-10 p.m. timeslot lead in 18-49 and 25-54 (2.3/7) and winning outright in adults 18-34 (1.8/8) and all female demos. A month from its finale, the dating show continues to track ahead of last year’s ratings pace, with Monday’s episode up 19% (0.3) vs. the same night a year ago.
Closing out the night was The Whispers (0.8/3 in 18-49, 3.4 million viewers overall), which was down two tenths from last week to its lowest score to date. The new drama has consistently beaten NBC’s The Island in Live+3 ratings (1.43 vs. 1.22 last week in 18-49).
At Fox, So You Think You Can Dance (0.9/3 in 18-49, 3.3 million viewers overall) matched its low of the previous week and tied the CBS comedy block for third in 18-49 from 8 to 10. A year ago, Dance was faring about half a ratings point higher while airing on Wednesdays.
CBS was consistent throughout the night with encores of its scripted Monday regulars 2 Broke Girls (0.9/3 in 18-49, million viewers overall), Mike & Molly (0.9/3 in 18-49, 4.7 million viewers overall), Scorpion (0.9/3 in 18-49, 5.0 million viewers overall) and NCIS: Los Angeles (0.9/3 in 18-49, 6.2 million viewers overall).
CW followed a repeat of The Originals (0.2/1 in 18-49, 0.6 million viewers overall) with a repeat of Whose Line Is It Anyway (0.2/1 in 18-49, 0.7 million viewers overall) and the low-rated time period premiere of Cedric’s Barber Battle (0.2/1 in 18-49, 0.5 million viewers overall).

In total viewers: ABC and NBC, 5.6 million; CBS, 5.3 million; Fox, 3.3 million; Univision, 2.2 million; Telemundo, 1.2 million;CW, 0.6 million.
